The Association has the very strong support of the industry at all levels with very close to 100 per cent coverage of growers across Australia. These facts, combined with the economic potential of the industry ensure that APFA has a strong voice at all levels of government.
An Executive Board monitor the annual activities of the Association and meet face to face 4 times per year. The current President is Matt West – General Manager of Australian Prawn Farm, Mackay.
Research for the Association is guided by a dedicated group of farm personnel who cover the cross section of the farming industry. The committee currently consists of 4 vibrant young members who guide research for the development of the industry.
APFA has recently developed a single consolidated summary of all available research relevant to Australian prawn farming, by auditing all key research and reports (both academic and non-academic) published since 2000. To date some 300 research papers/reports have been found.
Access is restricted to members only – if you would like more information please contact head office.
Members are also invited to use an industry created valuation model to evaluate their farm economic performance.
The aggregate data only from this is used by the R & D Committee to pin point research priorities for the industry.
